If you haven't looked into yet, I do highly recommend it!! It was a wonderful experience and, even though Olivia has her own blog, it still makes me incredibly happy to see her story somewhere else on the internet!
This is the story of our amazing daughter and her life with Cystic Fibrosis.

Nothing major to report from BronchWorld.
Olivia grew E. Coli from the sample taken during her bronch and nothing else. It's possible that it was a contaminant from her throat or it truly is growing in her lungs. Whatever the case, her antibiotics will kill it. They put her back on Prevacid because her bloodwork shows that she's refluxing a bit.
Update and Pictures
We all came home from the hospital on Saturday night and I didn't feel like getting on the computer until today. Olivia is doing well and happy to be home! She still has a slight productive cough. While in the hospital, she got to use the vest for the first time and she seemed to really enjoy it. We have got to get one of those!! It seems like a much better way of getting her CPT's in (versus the percussor cups). She is on 3 doses of Cefepime (or Maxipime if you prefer) per day and one dose of Tobramycin Sulfate all via her PICC line. We are feeling much more comfortable with the line this time and hopefully it won't sass us like it did before. I took some of her socks that she had outgrown, cut the foot portion off so that I could slide her hand through the hole and cover her PICC. She really want to picks at her PICC.
I hope you enjoy the pictures!

Almost done
Olivia had her bronchoscopy yesterday and her PICC line placed today. Everything went fine with both procedures. Her lungs coated with a thin rope-y layer of mucus. We will know the results of the cultures in a few days. We are happy she4 done and even happier that we get to go home tomorrow!

Clinic Info
Clinic went exactly how I knew it would. Olivia is coughing and producing more mucus than she should or they would like. She is scheduled to have her bronchoscopy tomorrow at 11:30 with a two stick max for her PICC line. We are hoping they can get it both done in one procedure.
Keep her in your thoughts and prayers!

Mucus Question
Sorry if this post grosses anyone out....
Normally when Olivia is able to cough anything up she swallows it before we see it, but last night we saw it. It didn't look like I thought it would, it was (*trying to hold back gag reflex*) thicker and much milkier than I expected. She coughed up stuff again this morning and it was the same. It takes a lot to make me queasy, but phlegm/mucus is the way! Anyway, is this what the mucus always looks like? I thought it would look more like really slimy, clear spit. This was my first time seeing it so I want to make sure it's ok.

Birthday Mess!!
Olivia was attempting to feed herself yogurt. All I can say is, Thank God for suction-based bowls!!!
Birthday Breakfast of Champions
I decided that since it is Olivia's birthday, she should have a special breakfast. She ate about a third of a chocolate-glazed creme-filled Krispy Kreme donut. Yeah, she liked it...

Littlest Heroes Project
I don't know if any of you have heard of the Littlest Heroes Project. It's a project that is for children ages Newborn-21 years old that suffer from or have suffered from a life-threatening illness. You have a to fill out a VERY brief application and they get back to you super quick saying if you were accepted or not (I think we got a our e-mail saying we were accepted maybe two hours after I applied). Anyways, they have you look through a list of local professional photographers, you let them know which ones are in your area and they get the photographer in touch with you.
Olivia had her pictures taken on Saturday by Angela Herzog and they are beautiful!
