Big Weekend for Olivia!!

This past weekend was a big one for Olivia!! It started on Friday morning when we met up with Olivia's cyster, Cara, and her husband, Patrick, and the ever-lovable, Shiner. First, we met up for breakfast at Mimi's Cafe (which is always delicious) and then we took them to a park so Shiner could get out of the car and move around and, BOY, did he!!! That dog can run and run and run (and poop)!!

Shiner running after the tennis ball and Olivia confused as to where the dog went to...."He was just right here"...

"Did you see a giant black dog go this way?"

How to spell the sound of wind whipping by you?
"I'm gonna get him!!!"
"Oh, thank you for catching the dog for me."
"Did you see? I pet the big doggy!!"
The award for The Cutest Couple goes too...Cara and Patrick!
I think Patrick is trying to even out the heights a little bit and Shiner is happy to be reunited with his tennis ball. Not that you would know it by looking at Patrick, but it was literally 20 degrees outside!!
After looking at these pictures, I realize that I don't have any pictures of Chris with Cara and Patrick. She took some pictures so hopefully she got one. If not, there's always next time!!
Saturday morning, Olivia woke up professing this! Patrick made quite the impression on Olivia -Cara better watch out!!!

Back to Friday. We met up with our friends Janis, Shawn and Emily (Olivia's bestie) and Janis's niece, Janis for Mexican food.
The Best Friends

Olivia giving one of the hundred kisses she gave to Emily and Janis.

On Saturday, our next door neighbors had a birthday party for their son turning 3!

Here is Olivia channeling her fire-fighting Elton John.

Here she is working on her strut.
On Sunday, Bebe and Papa came to visit but I forgot to get out the camera. I'm sorry!!
It was a big weekend that left Olivia worn out, but super happy.

Olivia's Outlaws shirts!-UPDATED

Oh my goodness!! I have this incredibly talented friend that is an artist (Pete McLennon) and I asked him to draw up something to use for our Great Strides shirts this year. Boy, did he outdo himself!! I knew I was going to get something great, but his drawing was so much better than I ever could have possible imagined!!! Feast your eyes upon this awesome spectacular-ness!!

They will be printed on white shirts with only the black and red being actually printed. Let me know if you want a shirt (they will be $10 or a little less) . The more that I order, the cheaper they are!

Here is what the shirts will look like!!!

Snowy play on a snowy day!

Last weekend, we had more snow than I have ever seen in Knoxville. At first, it was REALLY wet slushy snow so we decided that it would be best to keep Olivia inside. Then, it got really cold and hardened up so we let her out for some fun!

Clinic update - February

Olivia had Clinic today.
  • Her O2 saturation was 100% again.
  • She weighs 25 pounds (which is what she weighed in November)and is 33.7 inches tall (which is 1.7 inches taller than in November). This puts her BMI back at a lowly 18%.
  • We are to get into more of a routine with meals and not allow "grazing". Olivia drinks a ton of juice everyday and we are to cut back on that so maybe she will be hungry more.
  • I always make sure that I'm completely honest with her Care Team about her treatment that way they know exactly how she's doing. So I had to come clean on her Prevacid, Vitamin and Zithromax. She rarely takes her Prevacid anymore-I'm not making excuses for myself, but they took her off of it for a while so it fell out of my routine and she doesn't seem any different when she's on it. It will help with her enzyme/food absorption which mean if the doctors want her on it,I need to give it to her everyday. The vitamin had changed from the liquid, Vitamax, to the chewable SoureCF and she hates both. We are going to try AquaDEKs and get it strawberry flavored at Walgreens. I've got her on just a regular gummy multivitamin in the meantime. The Zithromax has been the most recent addition and for some reason has been hard for me to remember every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. I am going to try a small dose every day and get it worked into my routine that way. The doctor says it hasn't been tested so he can't prescribe it that way, but he doesn't see a problem with trying it out. It made me cry when I admitted all of this to the doctor because I felt like a failure, but she pointed out how good Olivia is doing overall and that they only prescribe this stuff and that she couldn't do it all everyday. She said you have to priortize and "life" comes first.
  • The doctor listened to her lungs and said they sound really good again, so that was our good news at this Clinic.
So it didn't go as well as I had hoped, but it definitely could have gone worse! We have to go back in a month (next appointment is on her birthday). As Ronnie always tries to tell us, we are in control of CF and will get back on track!

Olivia has loved horses for a while, but has a new love for birds. She can stare out the window for quite a long time looking for and watching birds.
