I'm having a poopy day!

Here's how my day has gone up until 8 am.

I made the horrible mistake this morning of wanting to take a shower before work so I toddler-proofed the area so that I didn't have to worry. I closed the baby-gate on the stairs and closed all the bedrooms doors so she could only go into her room and the bathroom where I was showering. I put a towel on the ground by tub to catch all the water when Olivia inevitably opens the curtain to see what mommy is doing (remember the days of privacy....long gone). I also weighted the toilet seat down so she couldn't get into that either and I was feeling pretty smart. So I'm taking my shower and am all sudsed up, Olivia keeps checking on me and Orion (our dog) is following her around. Then I hear her slip on something, fall and cry - not a real hurt cry, more of a "mommy, I want you to pity me" cry. So I look to see what she could have possibly slipped on...Oh dear God! Some poop has come out of her diaper and fallen on the ground causing her slip and now she's taken a few steps with her poo-covered feet. So I turn off the shower, wrap my soapy self with a towel and put the dog on the other side of the gate so he doesn't eat the poo (causing me to hurl) or roll in the poo (causing me to be late to work because I would have to bathe him). I changed Olivia's diaper, wash Olivia's feet and legs and then proceeded to clean the floor with Chris's towel since it was right there (love you, babe). Thankfully, the poo didn't get onto the grout so it was an easy clean up.

When I got to work and grabbed my lunch bag, I noticed it felt a little weird. I looked and saw that my container of milk (18 ounces) had come open and dumped out into the bag. While washing everything of and being grumpy that I now have no lunch because milky-Chinese food is not an appetizing thought for me, I pulled out my completely milk-logged glasses case - which turned out to be the only casualty. I don't know how they fold those carry-out containers, but it is the most liquid-tight fold I have ever seen! No milk made it in! So the day - for me - is not a complete loss.

Poopy News for other family members...

Uncle Ian - His dog has had a stroke in it's spine causing it to be basically paralyzed in his back legs and tail. He was robbed yesterday. He was out with a friend and received a call to come home because someone had broken in a stole his mattress and box spring (a little cumbersome to steal in my opinoin), computer and some kitchen stuff - including a monkey shaped cookie jar.

Chris - He left for Richmond, VA yesterday morning at 6:15 am (meaning he had to leave the house at a very early 4:50 - yuck!). He had to fly from Knoxville to Newark and arrived at 8:12 am. His flight was supposed to leave Newark at 12:40 (4.5 hour layover - BORING) only to have the incoming aircraft run late causing them to push away at 2:03 and then have TWO storms blow in causing him to take off at 4:00 pm. So he had to sit in the plane on the runway for 2 hours. This is why this morning sucked for me because he wasn't there to help with Olivia and this is also the first night we've been apart since Olivia was born.

"Today was good.

Today was fun.  Tomorrow is another one."

I love Dr. Seuss and all of his wonderful quotes.  I think they make great titles, don't you?
I'm thinking I might have a theme for the titles each month (i.e. children's books titles/quotes, song titles/lyrics, movie titles/lines) for a little fun.  I'll put the source at the bottom of the post.

New daycare

Added to the stress of yesterday's "Prescription Joy", Chris and I turned our 2 week notice into daycare this morning. It has been a very difiicult choice that we have been struggling with for quite some time. Olivia will be moving to a new daycare that is small and on our way to work (like her current daycare). Some of the benefits of this new daycare are:
  • Currently the same price, but in a few months will be cheaper.
  • She can attend until age 12, where she's going now is only up to age 5.
  • Home-cooked meals - the day we went they were having homemade cornbread, applesauce and navy beans with ham chunks - yummy!
  • She will sleep on a cot elevated 2 inches off the ground so she will be away from germies.
  • They kind of specialize in special needs children.

There are a few more things we really like about the new place, but it was still a very hard choice. You have to see how happy Olivia gets when we pull into the parking lot. She knows where she's at and is happy and comfortable there. Her teachers have taken great care of her and love her very much. Two of them participated in the Great Strides Walk with our team and hopefully will in future years! They have been the only people, other than family, to take care of our child for the last year and turning that letter in was hard. I just hope that Olivia loves her new daycare as much as she has loved going to the Knoxville Center for Early Education!

Thank you all for taking such great care of our little girl!

I'm so angry!!

I read a few weeks ago on Lil Chris's blog that the WeeCare program was going to possibly get cancelled. They supply Olivia with her Creon 5 and Vitamax (3 months at a time) for free until she's 3 years old. I called Clinic to have them call in the change to Olivia's precription (to change it from 3 to 4 before meals). When I went online to check, it showed her prescription was for qty. 360 of Creon 6. I was confused by the quantity and change of formula, so I called Clinic and they were going to call CF Services Pharmacy to correct the amount. Well, I am now getting another 720 - which brings us to 1080, just a little shy of the necessary 2160...Ok, moving on. So I called CF Services Pharmacy to inquire why a bill was sent with the order and the woman informed me that the WeeCare program was cancelled on June 31, 2009!! I asked why I didn't receive notification and she said that I did. Wouldn't I know if I received notification? She said it probably went into my Junk folder. I told her again that I received no notification and that I frequently check that folder. She asked for my e-mail address to check to see if it was on the list. Lo and behold, we weren't on the list. If I had known it was going to be cancelled, I would've placed an order on June 30 or ordered it through Medco (our mail order prescription company) which is WAY cheaper. CF Services will charge $100 for 1 month and Medco will charge $200 for 3 months.

Do you guys ever feel like your drowning?
Update: The price I gave above is our co-pay price. I read on CF Services Pharmacy website that each Creon 6 pill is $0.83 and she takes 20 pills a day so (at $16.60/day or $498/month) I should be rejoicing in that fact that we have insurance and only have to pay the co-pay.

"From there to here,

~here to there, funny things are everywhere."

The title is a line from One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish by Dr. Seuss

Monkeying around

Monty the Monkey finally made it home to Knoxville.  Uncle Ian bought it for Olivia (or Lollipop as her calls her) for Christmas.  Ian decided that he would escort Monty to his new home to help with the separation anxiety....yes, it is a stuffed animal.

My brother has a thing about monkeys and has a monkey very similar to Monty that he takes on road trips.  Here is his monkey, who will from now on be referred to as Inigo*, somewhere in Texas.

*My brother is fluent in Spanish and this means"my little one" which I think is cute and I also LOVE The Princess Bride)

Basking in the great outdoors

Chris is busy renovating our bathroom, so I took Olivia outside to the front yard and let her explore...

If only I could put into words how much I wish this picture was in focus...
