Daddy got new work gloves...

Pictures from Father's Day...

I went a little overboard with posting pictures since I knew some of you were going through Olivia Withdrawal.

It's been a very long week

The last time I wrote, Olivia had done her business and was still pushing but seemed to be doing better.  Here's a summary of the rest of week...

Tuesday - Olivia still has fever (over 103 degrees) and the ER called and said her blood was growing bacteria.  Since she still had a fever they needed to redraw the blood to check it again to make sure it's not something serious.  By the time we got to the ER, the bacteria was identified as Staph due to them contaminating the specimen (most likely) so we still had to retest it to be sure.

Wednesday - Clinic went really well and everything is good in CF Land.  She had to have blood taken (third day in a row) to check her vitamin levels and blood-glucose levels.  She still had a fever over 103 so the doctor was giving her a thorough look over and saw that she had an ear infection (her first) - that would explain the fever and constant screaming and crying. He pur her on Augmentin for 7 days to get rid of the ear infection.  He saw that she also grew bacteria in her urine in May so he wanted to check that again via a urine catheter.  Olivia is NOT happy with the week she's having!

Thursday - No doctors today but still having fever over 103 and the screaming and crying is now becoming more intermittent.  Hopefully the antibiotics will have he better soon.

Friday - Olivia saw her pediatrician today for her 15 month check up and immunizations.  The Staph in her blood and bacteria in her urine (which was pseudomonas) did not grow on the re-test so were both most likely due to contamination. Her ear infection is started to get better now that she's had a couple of doses of antibiotics. She still will just start crying every now and then, but she's almost back to her normal wonderful self.

My brother, Ian, was supposed to visit this weekend, but with Olivia being sick we asked him to postpone.  Olivia, Chris and I are all bummed because we haven't seen Ian (or Erin, my other brother) since Christmas and we miss them!

Hospital Update

We are on the way home with Olivia. They did chest and abdominal x-rays on her. The chest x-ray looked fine, but her abdominal x-ray showed that she was constipated. They gave her a warm milk and molasses enema (OUCH) and told us she needed to hold it in for 5 minutes. Sure...ok...um...how? Anyway, she definitely went to the bathroom (hovering over the toilet because the doctor has to come look at it) and had a lot. She is still grunting, but doesn't seem to be in pain anymore. We are just supposed to keep an eye on her and bring her back if she's not better in 8-10 hours.

Bad start to the week~

We had a nice day yesterday for Father's Day, but at toward the end of the day Olivia was starting to run a slight fever. I don't know what her fever actually was because we just got a new ear thermometer so we don't have to take it rectally anymore (I don't find the axillary to take a true or consistent temperature) and one ear gave me a reading of 96.8 and the other ear gave me 100.8 so who knows what it actually was. Her skin was quite warm to the touch and her cheeks were flushed so we gave her some Motrin. This morning she still felt a little warm so we gave her some Tylenol just to be safe. Olivia went to go find a private space to do her business and she started making pushing sounds and this went on for 5-10 minutes (compared to the normal 2 minutes). I checked her diaper and there was nothing in it and then she started screaming. I carried her around trying to calm her down (to no avail) and then decided to check her diaper again. This time when I checked, she had a prolapsed rectum which she hasn't had in a VERY long time. We drove to daycare hoping she would stop screaming/crying and decided as soon as we walked in that we couldn't leave her in that state because she was obviously in pain. Chris is at home with her right and she has finally passed a little of the poo, but the consistancy was totally normal. I just talked to Clinic and they want her at the ER because they don't want her to damage anything inside. Her rectum is no longer prolapsed, but the fact that she is still screaming, they just want to be sure.

Whenever I watch Olivia sleep I constantly wish that I could sleep that soundly.

**I love this little girl so much.  It amazes me everyday.**

New Do for the Toots

I did more with Olivia's hair today than the normal "just comb it and let it be curly and free".  I don't know if it looks as cute I think it did, but I giggled every time I looked at her.  Chris liked it and so did Olivia.

Here she is walking on daddy's feet.

She was being Supergirl...

Now she's just being a little sweetie.
